“When you know better, you do better”
– Maya Angelou
Drawing from this inspirational quote, we pooled our efforts, energies, and experiences to create ‘Edubrate’. As a group of young and not-so young enthusiasts, our individual strengths and competencies have helped us create an organization with a futuristic vision and a determination to succeed.
Various learning theories have been created, debated, and discussed. All these theories are like branches of a tree, while they may lean in different directions they will always draw from the same core / same roots and yield the same fruits and flowers.
Today, the latitude and longitude of education has changed to include not only academic competencies but also personal skills such as persistence, resilience, communication, empathy, and the list continues. The interconnections between academia and behavioral skills helps in creating agile and adaptable learners; learners who understand the need for change and are willing to change in their surrounding context.
We believe (and rightly so) that each person needs to carve out his / her future but often find people unable to take that first step. While we have multiple motivational theories, experiences, and true-life incidence which we want to emulate but struggle to apply them to our existing situations.
On one hand, the world is marching ahead making huge progress on the quality and variety of education available, on the other, we see many students who are not able to take advantage of this progress. There could be many reasons for it, lack of resources, lack of information and most importantly the lack of initiative.
Lack of initiative stems from the fear of stepping out of one’s comfort zone, not knowing where to go and worrying about the consequences of your decision. But if you ask right questions, build focus, create clarity, and accept that change is the only constant, then there is no stopping you from being successful.
A big shout out to all learners (young, old, active, want-to-be active and not-so active); learning is a continuous process and this process will bring about a change; a positive change.
Remember learning is accepting the change and accepting a change is a form of learning.
